Scope

Hydraulic and structural design of a supplementary pumping station of 4.5 m³/s discharge, suspending three 9 t mixed-flow pump assemblies, designed to water-retaining codes for a marine environment; discharge culvert under a live highway to the tidal estuary.

Construction supervision including sheet-piled cofferdams to work in the river bed under normal operating conditions.

Refurbishment and automation of the existing 30 m³/s station: upgraded diesel pumps, electrification of 6 × 3 m³/s pumps with 225 kW motors, interfaced to the regional communication system.

Outcome

Flood alleviation capacity in service; existing station automated and linked to regional telemetry.
